is a Chartered Landscape Architect with 20 years of experience in landscape, urban & inclusive design and in teaching, research & publication.
His portfolio includes work in the private, public & voluntary sectors including appointments as an establishing Principal for a Groundwork Trust (South West), Program Manager for the Sensory Trust, an Inclusive Design Charity, and as a CABE Space Enabler & Advisor. He is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director in Landscape Design at the University of Plymouth School of Architecture and also teaches at University College Falmouth. He has been a visiting lecturer at Cardiff & Cambridge Universities and at Rhode Island School of Design in the USA.
His practice,Westley Design, is collaborative - involving a broad range of designer-makers and development professionals in order to develop creative and holistic solutions. This includes partnership based regeneration projects with residential communities, schools, health care environments, businesses and local authorities, often focusing on urban regeneration. Michael’s work attempts to create a sustainable relationship between people and place.
